Welcome to my creative space! I’m Kate, a storyteller, visual artist, and proud Filipino-American hailing from San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines. My journey began with a transcontinental move to the United States at the tender age of three, setting the stage for a life enriched by diverse experiences and cultures.
As a military child, I traversed the breadth of the U.S., from the scenic landscapes of the West Coast to the bustling cities of the East Coast, and even across the pond to Germany. These nomadic adventures instilled in me a deep appreciation for the beauty of diversity and the power of storytelling to bridge gaps and forge connections.
My love affair with capturing moments in time blossomed from a young age, inspired by my mother’s unwavering devotion to preserving memories through the lens of her camera. Witnessing her passion for immortalizing candid moments ignited a spark within me—a spark that would soon ignite into a blazing passion for photography and videography.
It was during my formative years in high school that I fully embraced this passion, eagerly documenting life’s precious moments and sharing them with loved ones. Fueled by a desire to amplify voices and evoke emotions through visual storytelling, I embarked on an academic journey, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in public relations and advertising from Pacific Lutheran University.
Yet, my journey took an unexpected yet deeply fulfilling turn when I was commissioned into the U.S. Army Reserve through the PLU Army ROTC program to serve as a Human Resources Officer. Later, my path led me to transition into the role of a Public Affairs Officer. Here, I found a harmonious convergence of my passion for storytelling and my academic knowledge, leveraging the power of communication to inform, inspire, and connect with communities far and wide.
But my thirst for knowledge and growth knew no bounds. Driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, I continued my educational pursuits, earning a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing at Grand Canyon University. Armed with a formidable blend of creativity and strategic acumen, I ventured into the realm of marketing and communications, honing my skills as an Account Manager and Marketing Manager in various agencies.
In my relentless pursuit of personal and professional growth, I sought to deepen my understanding of organizational dynamics and leadership principles. This quest led me to the University of Southern California, where I earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership. Armed with this advanced degree, I am equipped with the knowledge and skills to effect positive change within organizations. My expertise in communication, coupled with a nuanced understanding of organizational behavior, empowers me to foster environments that are not only healthy and encouraging but also primed for growth and innovation. Through my doctoral journey, I’ve embraced a steadfast commitment to championing inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment, driving transformative change from within.
